Immune Recovery

Immune IV

A nutritional therapy that delivers high-dose vitamins and antioxidants intravenously. We confirm suitability through pre-treatment testing and consultation, then set the dose and infusion rate.

Immune IV

Immune IV

'Immune IV' is our in-house name for a program that delivers nutrients such as high-dose vitamin C, glutathione, and minerals through a vein. It is not a treatment that guarantees stronger immune function or the prevention of disease. Intravenous delivery differs in that it bypasses digestion and absorption, but not every ingredient available is needed by everyone. At Cheongdam Laplace, we review what has to be checked before an infusion before deciding what to put in it.

Recommended for

  • Those whose late nights and frequent travel leave little time to recover
  • Those who feel their condition has not returned to its previous level after an infection
  • Those who feel oral supplements are not absorbed well even when taken regularly
  • Those who want to address their baseline condition before beginning regenerative care
  • Those who want high-dose vitamin therapy within the limits of pre-testing and clear criteria

Our View

How we see it at Cheongdam Laplace

A different route means a different concentrationIntravenous delivery bypasses digestion and absorption, so it may reach a higher blood concentration than oral intake. The higher the concentration, however, the more safety items there are to check, so the dose is set within the range your test results allow.
Rate and dose are adjusted togetherEven with the same ingredients, a fast infusion rate may cause dizziness or nausea. We check how you feel during the infusion and adjust the rate. The first session starts at a conservative dose, and the next session is adjusted after we see your response.
Criteria instead of more sessionsRather than fixing a number of sessions per week in advance and repeating it, we recheck your condition and the necessary tests every 4-8 weeks. If your values and symptoms are stable, we tend to suggest lengthening the interval or pausing for a while.

The process

01

Consultation and history review

We check underlying conditions, current medications, allergies, and pregnancy status, and go over together what you would like to address at this visit.

02

Pre-treatment testing

When high-dose vitamin C therapy is being considered, we test the items that need to be confirmed in advance, such as G6PD deficiency and kidney function.

03

Prescription and consent

Based on the confirmed results, we explain the ingredients, the dose, and the expected duration, obtain your consent, and then prepare.

04

Infusion and monitoring

During the infusion we check for discomfort and monitor vital signs while adjusting the rate. Afterward you rest briefly before heading home.

Treatment information

Treatment time and recovery period may vary depending on the treatment area and your individual condition.
Procedure timeAbout 30-90 minutes (varies with dose and infusion rate)
AnesthesiaNone (a brief sting when the line is placed)
RecoveryNormal daily activity the same day (rest if dizzy right after the infusion)
Recommended intervalUsually starting at 1-2 times a week, reassessed after 4-8 weeks
Treatment areaArm vein (a vein on the back of the hand depending on vessel condition)

Frequently asked questions

Can anyone receive a high-dose vitamin C infusion?

No. G6PD deficiency carries a risk of hemolysis, so pre-testing is required, and if kidney function is reduced or heart failure is present, the fluid load has to be considered as well. Depending on the test and consultation results, there are cases where we do not recommend it.

Will fatigue disappear right after an infusion?

How much you feel varies widely from person to person. Fatigue involves many factors at once, including sleep, diet, alcohol, and underlying conditions, so it is difficult to say that a single infusion will make fatigue go away. It may help with managing your condition when combined with lifestyle adjustments, and whether and when you notice a change may differ from person to person.

Can I have it on the same day as another procedure?

It is sometimes done on the same day to support recovery after a laser or lifting treatment. Depending on swelling at the treated area, bleeding tendency, and how you feel that day, however, we may change the order or split it across separate days.

Precautions and possible side effects

  • Pain, bruising, swelling, or phlebitis may occur where the line is placed.
  • If the solution leaks outside the vessel, pain and swelling may occur at that site, and rarely tissue damage.
  • A fast infusion rate may cause dizziness, nausea, sweating, or chills.
  • In cases of G6PD deficiency, high-dose vitamin C carries a risk of hemolysis.
  • With repeated high-dose vitamin C infusions, kidney-related risks such as kidney stones associated with oxalate accumulation have been reported, so kidney function needs to be checked.
  • If kidney function is reduced or heart failure is present, the fluid load may cause edema.
  • Rash, itching, and other drug hypersensitivity reactions may occur rarely, and very rarely a severe hypersensitivity reaction (anaphylaxis) with difficulty breathing and a drop in blood pressure may occur.
  • Infection may occur at the injection site.
  • Temporary stomach discomfort may occur after glutathione administration.

Treatment results may vary depending on individual condition, and side effects may occur. Please confirm the details through a consultation with our medical staff.
