Rather than being applied on top of the skin, skin boosters are injections that deliver regenerative ingredients into the dermis. Hyaluronic acid types focus on moisture retention and skin texture, while polynucleotide types focus on the recovery environment of damaged tissue. They are grouped under one name, but each ingredient aims at a different point, so we treat the choice of ingredient as important.

Depth and spacing are designedEven with the same formulation, the injection depth differs for areas of different thickness such as the forehead, around the eyes, and the cheeks. The spacing between injection points is also adjusted by area, in a direction that lowers the chance of lumps and nodules.

The process

Skin assessment

We check hydration, skin thickness, and the distribution of fine lines to divide up the target areas and select the ingredient group to use.

Anesthesia and disinfection

Topical anesthetic is applied and the treatment area is disinfected. Cooling is sometimes used as well for areas where pain is greater.

Divided injection by area

Small amounts are injected at the planned depth. The amount is varied by area with the aim of even distribution.

Finishing and guidance

A cold compress is applied to reduce swelling and marks, and we explain the timing of your next session and how to care for your skin at home.

Frequently asked questions

How are fillers and skin boosters different?

Fillers are largely intended to fill volume and contour in a specific area, while skin boosters aim at the skin's own hydration and texture. If your goal is to fill a hollow area, skin boosters alone may not be enough, so we sort out the goal in consultation first.

Can I go out right after the procedure?

Fine injection marks and swelling usually remain for a few hours to about a day. Normal daily activity is possible the same day, but if you have an important event, booking with two or three days to spare may be more comfortable.

How long do the results last?

It varies widely with the ingredient, skin condition, and lifestyle. Generally it decreases gradually over several months after a course is finished, so if you want maintenance, we recheck your condition and then set the interval. It is difficult to give a single figure for how long it lasts.

Can I have it if I have acne?

When inflammatory lesions are active, the injection itself may be irritating, so we do not recommend it. It is safer to proceed once acne treatment has settled the inflammation, and depending on your condition we sometimes divide the areas and adjust the order.

Precautions and possible side effects

Injection marks, swelling, bruising, and tenderness may remain for a few days after the procedure.
In thin-skinned areas such as around the eyes, swelling and bruising may last longer.
Rarely, small nodules or lumps may be felt at the injection site.
Hypersensitivity to the ingredients may cause itching and redness.
Rarely, infection, an inflammatory reaction, or temporary pigmentation may occur at the injection site.
To prevent infection, please avoid saunas and swimming on the day of the procedure.
